How To Have A Conflict Minimised Funeral

This post maybe a bit sensitive to some. The recent events happened to me has thrown me off momentum, at least for now. What I am talking about below applies more for chinese funeral, but generally, having a Will is good for everyone.

Firstly, to avoid any possible arguments, disagreements in the family:

“Make a Will”

This will wipe out any potential conflicts.

  • How you want your funeral to be like e.g. Buddhist style, Taoism style (if you had a religion, it is straightforward, but if you are a freethinker, give it a thought how you want your funeral to be like)
  • Location of your funeral
  • Who to be the Single Point Of Contact / Main Person for arrangement of the funeral
  • Who will keep your wake photo / or how u want it to be disposed of etc. (basically, the photo used during the funeral)
  • Where you want your ashes to stay? at a columbarium, thrown to the sea, etc etc.
  • Distribution of Assets, if applicable
  • Any Other Matters

People can quarrel over the most trival of matters. So its good to write down everything, its ensures dispute is kept to a minimum level. Its also good to teach the kids when young that:

“Brothers & Sisters Are For Life!”

With close relationships from young, they will be more empathetic of each other. Hopefully, they will be the same when they grow up.
